Taliban Accuse Pakistan of Airstrikes in Afghanistan That Killed Six Civilians

Afghanistan’s Taliban government has accused Pakistan of carrying out airstrikes that killed at least six people and injured more than a dozen others. The attacks reportedly targeted several locations, including residential neighborhoods and infrastructure linked to aviation fuel supplies.

According to Taliban officials, the strikes hit areas in the Afghan capital Kabul as well as the eastern province of Nangarhar. Among the casualties were civilians, including children, raising concerns about the growing tension between the neighboring countries.

Fuel Depot and Residential Areas Hit

Taliban representatives said one of the main targets was a fuel storage facility connected to Kam Air, a private Afghan airline. The depot reportedly supplies fuel not only for commercial flights but also for aircraft used by international organizations such as the United Nations.

Residents living near the affected areas described scenes of destruction after the overnight attacks. Many said they woke up to loud explosions, shattered windows, and buildings damaged by falling debris.

Some residents reported that their homes were filled with dust and smoke following the blasts, leaving families frightened and struggling to locate loved ones in the dark.

Rising Tensions Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

The latest strikes mark an escalation in the already tense relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Taliban authorities warned that the attacks would not go unanswered and described the operation as a violation of Afghan sovereignty.

Pakistan, however, has previously stated that its military operations are aimed at militant groups that allegedly operate from Afghan territory and carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

The Taliban leadership has consistently rejected those accusations, arguing that Pakistan’s security issues are internal matters and not the responsibility of Afghanistan.

Cross-Border Clashes Intensify

Recent weeks have seen growing military activity along the long border shared by the two countries, which stretches for more than 2,600 kilometers. Earlier clashes included Pakistani air operations targeting suspected militant positions inside Afghanistan.

In response, Afghan authorities reported launching drone strikes against a Pakistani military installation in the northern city of Kohat, claiming the attack caused significant damage.

The situation has raised fears that the conflict could escalate further if diplomatic solutions fail.

Mediation Efforts Under Pressure

The renewed hostilities come despite diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the two countries. China has reportedly attempted to mediate between Kabul and Islamabad, urging both sides to avoid further escalation.

For a brief period, cross-border violence appeared to decrease following Beijing’s intervention. However, the latest airstrikes suggest that the fragile calm may be collapsing.

Civilians Caught in the Middle

Local residents described the attacks as terrifying, with explosions shaking buildings and debris falling into homes during the night.

Families reported running through their homes in the dark, trying to locate their children and relatives amid thick dust and damaged structures.

As tensions continue to rise, observers warn that civilians living near contested areas may face increasing risks if the conflict between the two neighbors intensifies.
